4th Nov 7:30pm @ Theatre Utopia, Croydon. CR0 1FF.

A triple bill contemporary dance show looking into various aspects of the human nature. Showcasing works from Beautiful Confusion CollectiveSimple Dance Company, & Friction Dance Theatre.
‘Backstory’
A solo performance by Beautiful Confusion Collective viewed from behind. ‘Backstory’ is about how a character gets to be like that, or does that, whatever the that of the story is. In real life, it’ s more how each of us can be fathomed, can be understood, can be contextualized, can be tracked, how our bodily reactions and inner thoughts penetrate our actions, our gestures, our tone – right now, in this moment.

“Fitfully mysterious magic”– Keith Watson Resolution! 2015 review Space to Dance Award Nominee, Brighton Fringe 2016

We are just beings, until we find our identity. ‘Smirk’ by FDT – Friction Dance Theatre explores the change in social behaviors through deindividuation, and how we become something unhuman going against social norms. It’s the quest of finding ourselves where the struggles commence.

“They could be the living dead – not the shuffling corpses of classic zombie movies but the dynamic figures of 28 days later”
Sanjoy Roy – The Guardian.

‘Disconnection’
This is a solo work by Simple Dance Company based on the learning difficulty dyslexia, and uses physical theater, contemporary dance and magic to inform the audience of personal and factual information around this disability. And showing that you can use this to make a disability an ability.

“For me dyslexia were only when dyslexia can’t read properly, but there’s actually more to it”
Student – Westminster Kings College.
